The Promising Future Of Digital Marketing

By Roy van Rivero

Digital marketing, in recent years, has expanded dramatically giving more promising opportunities to businesses for market success - by reaching even more prospects. Statistics figures have shown that this trend is expected to continue in the coming years. In fact, the study conducted by Gartner on U.S. digital marketing spending suggests that companies will have spent USD 25 million in every USD 1 billion revenue at the end of the year. This trend is perhaps one of the reasons why even Google designed a digital marketing course to go along with this marketing landscape.

If you are running a business and if you want to bring your marketing efforts to the next level then you should consider digital marketing as part of your overall marketing strategies. And to give some useful insights, consider the following items I have shared here below:

Website - every business that wants to venture in online marketing should establish a website that will effectively represent its company. Websites are a platform where you have full control, which allows you to establish a clear and detailed information that your prospects need. Realize that no matter where you find prospects on the Internet, conversions (most of the time) happen on your website.

Mobile - in 2017, the number of smartphone users in the U.S. alone is predicted to hit 207 million, which means about 2/3 of the countries total population will be browsing online through mobile devices. Therefore, your marketing effort must go beyond the conventional platform (i.e. desktop computers) by making your online marketing campaign compatible to mobile devices; you can start it by making your website compatible across various platforms.

SEO and SEM - this means harnessing the potential of search engines for your business success; this should be part of your digital marketing effort. Search engine optimization is meant to increase your website's presence in search engine organic search results while search engine marketing could include the keyword-based advertising (e.g. AdWords Ads displayed on search results).

Social media - is considered by many as the new search engines -- a connotation that makes sense -- since a number of social media platforms feature functions like search engines. Moreover, the number of social media users, which has hit the billion mark, means that there is a huge market waiting to be tapped. Thus, investing in social media should be part of your overall digital marketing plan.

Analytics - this is crucial to every digital marketing campaign as this is the way to measure whether your marketing effort has been effective or not. There are a number of tools you can use - in fact you can use freely - that allow to measure important metrics, including conversions and conversion rates, customer geo-location, demographics, etc.
